Valentine's Day!

Earlier this month, we did our February calender.  They love doing these and they always take their time.  I love how they are each so unique!

We made these as gifts to our parents for Valentine's Day.  "I love you to pieces!".  Again, they are SO unique and I LOVE that!  I love doing art with kids because you can truly see their personality through their art.

This craft it always a fun one to do.  They are always so amazed at the arms/legs.  They did a GREAT job following directions to make them, and they all turned out so great!  Again, so unique.  :)

On actual Valentine's Day, we cut out the letters that spell out "Valentines Day" and we tried to see how many different words we could make out of those letters.  They did a great job and I was AMAZED at some of the words they were making up!  They did a great job and loved this activity.

For math on Valentine's Day, I gave each of them some conversation hearts, and we graphed how many of each color they had.  Then we got to eat them while we watched Charlie Brown.  :)

The best part: passing out valentine's!

We also had a wonderful and very fun valentine's day party after we passed out our valentine's.  Thank you SO much to the parents that helped out with the party or brought treats!  You are TRULY wonderful and I am SO grateful to have you as parents.
Thank you SO MUCH for all that you do!!!

100th Day!!!

February 6th was the 100th day of school!!!  I can't believe that we are already that far into the school year!  We had SUCH a fun time on the 100th day!  It was a short day, so we didn't get to do as much as I would like, but we still got a lot done.  :)

I asked everyone to bring in 100 of something.  Most people brought in cereal, which worked perfectly!  We also had some other pretty neat and creative items!  We grouped the items different ways to 100's.  10's, 5's, 2's, etc.

We also made some neat ties and hats!  There were three different types of ties, and they were all so creative with it!  We don't use our markers very often, so it was a very special day that we were able to use our markers.  :)

We also made some pretty neat hats, if I do say so myself.  :)

 I have a pretty goofy class.  :)
My favorite thing about the 100th day of school is reading this book that everyone makes.  They always have some pretty creative answers, and I always laugh when I read these!  I took pictures of 2 different ones, just to show you what some of them did.  They turned out pretty cute!

We had a fun day on the 100th day of school, and there aren't many more days left, so I am cherishing every single moment.  :)

February 3, 2013

The past few weeks we have been working SO hard!
It has been crazy weather, if I do say so myself.
We have had 2 snow days in the last 3 weeks - crazy!
For 3 weeks in a row, we had 4 day weeks.
It has been nice having a surprise day off, but I'm not going to lie...I was very bored on those days.

A few weeks ago we learned the rules about soft G and soft C:

We have also been working on silent e and long vowels.
We used this poem to help us remember what the silent e does.
When we were learning about long a, we made these "snakes" and hung them from the ceiling.
The snakes all have long a words on them.

We will be finishing our long vowels this week with lone e, spelling ee and ea.

This week marked our half way mark of the school year!
To celebrate, it was spirit week!
Since we didn't have school Monday, the first day of spirit week was Tuesday and it was crazy fan day.  We had fans of books and sports.  It was wonderful!  :)  I wore my husbands 49ers shirt in support of the super bowl...too bad they lost.  Good game though.  Should have worn my Maverick's shirt or my Miles Austin jersey (go Cowboys!)  ;)

This picture is definitely my favorite.
Fake injury day!  I told them to point to their booboo that hurts the most and make a sad face.
HAH!  Love it.
Pajama day!  Who doesn't love PJ day?  I know I do!
We got to make a silly face for this picture...we do have some pretty silly faces here.  :)
Friday was wear the school colors...
And it was crazy hair day!!!  This day was my favorite.  I woke up really not wanting to get ready and then I remember that it was crazy hair day!

On Friday, we also celebrated Groundhog Day!
Apparently, spring is coming early this year!
Let's hope he's right, even though it's hard to believe when I look out the window and see 10 feet of snow!  Okay I'm exaggerating, but I wasn't a week ago.  :)
We learned a song in music class about Groundhog Day, and they insisted I take a video of it, so I did and I promised that I would put it on the class blog, so here it is.  Don't mind my lack of singing (I'm basically tone deaf).  I've got some pretty good singers in the class though!

This week we are starting our Valentine's Day crafts!  I can't believe February is already here!
Thank you parents for EVERYTHING you do!  You are all SO wonderful!
